Consequences keep rolling for Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant after he flashed a gun on Instagram Live at a Colorado strip club earlier this month. Now, Coca-Cola is pulling Morant’s Powerade ads due to his suspension.
After his suspension, Coca-Cola pulled Morant’s Powerade commercial and removed him from their website. It’s unclear at this point whether or not the company has completely severed ties with the 23-year-old.
Powerade announced a $10 million marketing campaign featuring Morant just days before the Instagram Live. The company told Bloomberg it was planning “the biggest marketing blitz in the brand’s 36-year history.” The first commercial was scheduled to air on March 14.
Morant was initially suspended from the team for two games following the IG incident, but that was later extended by four more games. The NBA is also investigating, and it’s unknown if he will face additional punishment from the league.
The Glendale Police Department announced that it closed its investigation into the All-Star, and no charges will be filed. The department cited a lack of evidence.
