Colin Kaepernick Announces Multi-Book Deal With Scholastic to Publish Children’s Books

Colin Kaepernick’s publishing company Kaepernick Publishing inked a multi-publishing deal with Scholastic to publish children’s books. His first book will be released in April 2022, titled “I Color Myself Different,” illustrated by Eric Wilkerson.

I Color Myself Different” will be a children’s book based on one of Kaepernick’s early experiences growing up as a child adopted by a white family. One day while he was in Kindergarten, he recalls choosing a brown crayon to color a drawing of himself while choosing yellow for his family.

“This story is deeply personal to me and inspired by real events in my life,” Kaepernick said about the upcoming book. “I hope that it honors the courage and bravery of young people everywhere by encouraging them to live with authenticity and purpose. I’m excited for Kaepernick Publishing to be collaborating with Scholastic on books with Black and Brown voices at the forefront. I hope that our books will inspire readers to walk through the world with confidence, strength, and truth in all they do.”
