After almost three weeks since Colin Kaepernick’s workout in Atlanta, Kaepernick is still awaiting an offer from the league.
However, one player in attendance has been offered an opportunity as a result of the workout.
During his training drills, Kaepernick brought several receivers along with him to show the league what he is capable of. The group of players consisted of Bruce Ellington, Brice Butler, Ari Werts, and #JordanVeasy.
Now, Since the workout, Veasy has signed a deal with the Washington Redskins.
Veasy was a free agent for almost a month prior to the training session, and he believes the workout boosted his chances of getting him seen and the reason he landed his new job earlier this week
“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of it,” Veasy explained to the Washington Post. “Just being a part of the history of it, and I knew it was going to help me.”
When Veasy learned of Kaepernick’s workout, he thought it was the perfect opportunity as he had been looking for an NFL job, as well. So, Veasy reached out to Kaepernick’s agent and was subsequently invited to come out to the conditioning.
“I was going to be in Gadsden running routes anyway,” Veasy said. “Might as well run ‘em in front of some scouts.”
Veasy was on the receiving end of one pass from the workout that was showcased in the majority of the highlight film that came from the practice. Not even 10 days later, Veasy was invited to Cleaveland to tryout with the Browns but didn’t land a contract with the organization. However, this week the receiver received a call from the Redskins (one of seven NFL teams that sent at least one scout to the workout) offering him a position on their practice squad.
The Redskins makes the fifth NFL team that Veasy has played for since the beginning of his career in 2018. Veasy hasn’t played in a regular-season game yet after first being signed by the Titans and getting cut right before the season began in 2018. Veasy was later signed to the Jaguars practice squad but signed a deal with the Colts in 2019. Following his release from the Colts during finals cuts early this year, Veasy signed with the Bills practice squad until being released in the middle of October.
