The general public rejoiced in conjoining praise as Michigan’s front seven stopped Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe on fourth down in overtime. With this loss, the Tide and Georgia will not be in the College Football Championship. Parity in college football is a welcome change for fans and for the teams that will face off next Monday.
The Michigan Wolverines have avenged their recent playoff defeats in 2021 and 2022, setting up a match against the Washington Huskies led by Michael Penix.
The Florida native Penix saved one of his best performances of the year for the CFP playoffs. He completed 29 of his 38 passes for 430 yards and two touchdowns. The dying conference of the Pac-12 has not won a National Championship since Reggie Bush was at Southern California in 2004.
How fitting would it be for a Pac-12 champion to garner this achievement? The conference’s rich history and its former excitement have been revived by Oregon’s Bo Nix and Penix throughout the season, and now it all comes down to next Monday. The Michigan Wolverines are vying to win their first National Championship since 1991.
The Huskies will be joining the Wolverines in the Big Ten starting next year. We may be witnessing a new ongoing rivalry that will come with bragging rights as the Huskies enter the league looking to be known as the big dog.
The Huskies stepped up in a huge way at the end of the game, stopping the Longhorns four times from their own 12. Washington’s Elijah Jackson swatted the throw intended for Longhorns’ Adonai Mitchell, and chaos ensued for Huskies fans.
“Huskie Nation stand up,” Penix told the fans that made the trip to the game. “We going to the Natty!”
Postgame Penix was asked about the struggles that led him to Washington and how he’s been able to enjoy and capitalize on this long season. Penix gave an interview that only a real Florida boy knows how too.
“I’m not no quitter, it did get hard for me at times you know. I had to lean on the ones that I love the most. But it means a lot to be here, I’m super blessed and I gotta thank the man above for everything he has put me through to get to this point,” Penix told ESPN. However, the best part of his answer is at the end. “Dade City, Tampa, Florida we up. Ay, Free Julio, I ain’t forget about you brotha. Love Y’all!

Penix will face off against arguably the best defense in the country and Michigan just faced off against a Mobile quarterback. It should give them an advantage in planning. However, they have not faced Michael Penix Jr.
Next Monday will be a good one, you’ll have to tune in to see if the Florida native can complete the impossible next week!
