A Colorado police officer is under fire after he was seen hitting an unruly woman in the face while she was in handcuffs.
Officer Russell Maranto has since been fired for punching a cuffed Angelia Hall after she spit on him.
Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran released the disturbing body cam footage Friday, which shows Maranto and his fellow officers escorting Hall into a hospital room on May 20.
Hall was taken in for medical evaluation after she was placed in protective custody for wandering in traffic and mumbling to herself.”
The video shows the woman sitting in a chair with her hands cuffed behind her back and yelling at the officers.
Maranto takes a piece of paper out of Hall’s hand and begins to walk away with it. This causes Hall to go berserk, and she’s heard demanding her paper back from Maranto.
The officer returns and is seen trying to calm her down. But Hall, who is visibly angered, spits at Maranto.
He’s seen punching her in the face at the 44:14min mark.
Three days after the incident, Chief Doran fired Maranto and launched an investigation into the incident. Hall was charged with assault for her actions toward Maranto.
The Larimer County D.A. will decide if the officer will face criminal charges.
