There is always sunshine at the end of the storm. This 60-year-old Colorado man has proven that. According to Yahoo, Michael Engfors went to a nearby grocery store to purchase a scratch-off lottery ticket–as he’s occasionally done before. Little did he know, a $10 scratch-off ticket would land him $500,000.
After battling a series of tribulations, Engfors had been living in a Colorado homeless shelter for the past four years or more. Throughout his stay at the homeless shelter, he occasionally did constructional work to get by. But it looks like all that is about the change for the lottery winner.
“We cut him a check and he was on his way,” Kelly Tabor, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Lottery told ABC News. Tabor also revealed that after taxes, Engfors took home $355,000.
Although Engfors has not spoken since the win, it is said that he has plans of purchasing a home, and also reconnecting with his daughter that he hasn’t seen in over 20 years.
If you ever feel like giving up, remember that even though things may be bad for the moment, it won’t be that way forever. Keep hoping; keep pushing.
