The University of Colorado won its first game of the season against No. 17 TCU on Saturday, the first with Deion Sanders at the helm. This marks the former NFL star’s Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coaching debut.Â
The Buffaloes won 45-42 in the back-and-forth game. Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, set a school record for passing yards with 510 yards. He also had four touchdowns in the game and completed 38 of 47 passes.Â
“This is a blessing,” the coach told FOX after the game. “Everybody. Buff Nation, who supported us, and all the hood that had our back. Thank y’all.”
Sanders joined the team in December after leaving Jackson State University. He coached there for three seasons. His son, Shedeur, and two-way star Travis Hunter left Jackson State to join Coach Sanders in Colorado.
The Buffaloes’ next game is scheduled for September 9 against Nebraska.Â
