Comedian Eric André Files Lawsuit Against Clayton County Over Police’s ‘Racial Profiling And Coercive Stops’ at Airport

Comedian Eric André has filed a lawsuit against Georgia’s Clayton County over racial profiling and coercive stops he says he was subjected to at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Last year, André spoke out about allegedly being racially profiled and harassed while going through the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Clayton County police claim André’s experience and statements were “full of misinformation,” including André saying that he was asked if he was “transporting crystal meth to Los Angeles.

“I was blocked in a jet bridge by two police officers who interrogated me about drugs,” André said Tuesday.

“I didn’t see any other Black people boarding at the time. It’s hard to believe I was selected at ‘random’ for questioning. It was a humiliating and degrading experience.”

Now, André and another well-known comedian, Clayton English, are suing the county over the police’s “program of racial profiling and coercive stops,” calling the tactics illegal, Complex Media reports. English also reportedly has his own experiences being racially profiled at the airport.

The lawsuit details how police records show cops have been using targeting methods that are “based on race.” Some of the named individuals in the suit include Clayton County, CCPD chief Kevin Roberts, and several CCPD officers.
