Common Addresses Jaguar Wright Sexual Assault Claims; “She May Be Going Through Some Things That I Don’t Understand”

Rapper and activist Common has broken his silence on the sexual allegations made by R&B singer and songwriter Jaguar Wright several months ago.

“God bless Jaguar. I really don’t have any negative thoughts towards her. I was for surely disappointed and hurt when she said what she said about me because it wasn’t true and I know people that have experienced sexual assault and that’s not anything to just say if it’s not true. But I also understand that she may be going through some things that I don’t understand. So in all truth, I went through different emotions. I was like ‘man, why is she saying this? This is not true. How is this going to affect me?’” Common said during a phone interview with Power 99 FM “Rise & Grind” Morning Show.

Back in August, Jaguar accused Common of attempting to force her to give him oral sex following a performance. She claims that she refused his advances and when she woke up the following morning, he attempted to force her into the sexual act.

“The next thing I know, I wake up. It’s morning and I feel something poking in my face and sh*t. And it’s just poking in my face, poking in my face. And I’m like ‘What the f*ck?!’ Then I open my mouth, this n*gga trying to stick his d*ck in my mouth while I’m sleep,” she alleged in a lengthy Instagram video.

Jaguar Wright is most famously known for her work on Jay-Z’s 2002 Grammy nominated single, “Song Cry.” She also worked closely with the Roots in the early 2000’s, touring heavily with the group.
