50 Cent receives a special honor from the city of Hartford, Connecticut.
On Friday, the 48-year-old mogul was given a unique recognition on the same day as music enthusiasts celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. During an event held, Governor Ned Lamont officially designated August 11th as “50 Cent Day” in honor of the rapper.
“Today was officially Curtis 50 Cent Jackson day in Hartford CT,” he wrote on Instagram. “The energy was so good, it made me remember why I moved to CT.”
Connecticut holds a significant place in 50 Cent’s history. Back in 2003, the rapper acquired the expansive 52-room estate in Farmington that once belonged to boxing legend Mike Tyson, spending $4.1 million on the purchase. For a considerable span of time, 50 Cent resided in this estate. However, in 2019, he opted to sell the property, subsequently directing the proceeds from the sale to his philanthropic initiative, the G-Unit Foundation.
Outside of receiving accolades, 50 Cent is currently giving high-energy performances while on his The Final Lap Tour. The rapper kicked off his worldwide tour in May, revealing his intention to hit the road once again in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of his debut album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.”
Subsequently, 50 Cent has been actively posting numerous photos and video clips capturing the highlights of his live performances. In the upcoming weeks, he is scheduled to showcase perform in various locations across the United States. Following this U.S. stint, he will embark on the international phase of his tour, commencing on September 28th in Amsterdam.
