A Connecticut man has been charged in the brutal stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend.
Andre LeFrancois, 22, of Ansonia has been charged with murder and risk of injury to a child in the death of Rosali Acquefreda, 20.
Acqufreda was found bleeding in the street shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday. She was taken to Griffin Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The two shared a three-year-old son, and Acquefreda’s family says that she was a victim of domestic violence, but was trying to start over.
“My daughter had a toxic relationship with this gentleman ever since she was 14,” he said. “She was in fear of this man, and it’s sad to say that because he was the child’s father.”
LeFrancois was taken into custody without incident at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, several days after the incident, outside his home, and detained on a $750,000 bond. He appeared via video before a judge where he pleaded not guilty on the murder charges Thursday. The judge upheld his bond, and he was ordered to have no contact with his son.
