A Connecticut man will be spending more than two decades in prison for sex trafficking women during the Super Bowl in Miami last year.
Edward Walker, 48, was sentenced to 25 years on Thursday, according to a Department of Justice press release. Walker was convicted of two counts of sex trafficking and one count of transporting a person for sexual activity after an eight-day trial in October.
The New Haven resident was accused of taking a 17-year-old girl and two adult women from Connecticut to Miami to exchange sex for money. Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial that showed he intended to bring the women to other locations. He planned to bring the girls to Chicago during the NBA All-Star Game, New Orleans during Mardi Gras, and Las Vegas.
Walker will be subject to 25 years of post-release supervision as part of his sentencing.
Florida prosecutors said Walker would soon be transported back to Connecticut. He is set to face additional federal charges related to the production of child pornography.
