Connecticut State Rep. Quentin Williams Killed in Wrong-Way Car Crash Hours After Being Sworn into Office

Hours after being sworn into office for his third term on Wednesday, Connecticut state Rep. Quentin Williams, 39, was killed in a car crash.

In 2019, Williams, also known as “Q,” was elected to the Connecticut State House to represent the residents of his hometown of Middletown.  Recently, he was appointed co-chair of the labor committee.
Williams was struck head-on by a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on Route 9 near Cromwell early on Thursday, according to Connecticut State Police.
After an autopsy, police identified Williams as the driver of the vehicle, which was engulfed in flames.
Police identified the wrong-way driver as Kimede Mustafaj, 27, of Manchester, Connecticut, who was also pronounced dead at the scene.
According to his biography on the website of the State House Democrats, Williams was the director of advocacy and policy for Excellence Community Schools and the co-founder of the educational nonprofit EquityCT.
State officials said information on Williams’ services would be available in the coming days.  He is survived by his wife, Carrissa Williams.
