Consumer Rights Group Sues Sony For Millions Over Alleged Unfair And Exploitative Pricing For PlayStation Games

A consumer rights group has filed a lawsuit against Sony over its pricing for digital versions of the PlayStation games.

A consumer rights organization led by a man named Alex Neill has sued Sony for allegedly giving consumers unfair and exploitative prices for online games, and it wants $5.9 million in damages.

According to the filing, the group claims Sony placed a 30 percent commission on all of its games, including smaller transactions that are made on the company’s online store.

“The game is up for Sony PlayStation,” wrote Neill in the suit. “With this legal action, I am standing up for the millions of U.K. people who have been unwittingly overcharged. We believe Sony has abused its position and ripped off its customers.”

Yahoo! reports that nine million people could receive a payout of between $61 to $79 USD.
