Disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein was recently convicted of third-degree rape and first-degree sexual assault for raping a hair-dresser and forcing oral sex on a former production assistant, Page Six reports.
Ten days later, following an operation on his heart to remove a blockage, Weinstein was transported to Rikers Island to serve time, pending sentencing.
But now, the producer is facing yet another injury after suffering a “bad fall” while in custody. In fact, according to a spokesperson for Weinstein, he’s been having a hard time since, Page Six reports.
“He’s miserable but trying to be optimistic as best he can,” Weinstein’s spokesman Juda Engelmayer said. “He has had a lot of time to think about his life and be humbled, but he thinks it’s going to be a long, uphill battle from here.”
As for the fall, after attempting to walk on his own, Weinstein fell and hit his head, Sunday morning.
“He fell on his head and thinks he has a concussion,” Engelmayer explained. “His head has been pounding since yesterday.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The “Shakespeare In Love” producer is also having a hard time adjusting to prison, especially following his heart surgery that took place last Wednesday at Bellevue Hospital. According to the spokesman, it’s also been a difficult transition from his walker, to a wheelchair for the movie mogul.
“It’s a prison cell,” Engelmayer explained in reference to explaining Weinstein’s tough time in jail. “It has a sink and toilet, all stainless steel and open.”
Weinstein has since been treated and is expected to be sentenced on March 11. Weinstein is looking at five to 29 years if found guilty.
“[Weinstein] had a lot of time to think about his life and what he’s done,” Englemayer said. “He said he wasn’t a nice guy, and that’s how he got here.”
