Coolio’s estate has announced the release of a posthumous album.
Fans will get to hear the songs Coolio was working on before he unexpectedly passed away in September 2022 at 59.
The album, LONG LIVE COOLIO, will include features from Too $hort, Treach of Naughty by Nature, and other artists.
This will be the rapper’s first album since the release of his 2009 album From the Bottom 2 the Top.
The Too $hort-feature “TAG (You It)” will be the album’s first single since the announcement.
Coolio has had at least six of his songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list during his career with “Gangsta’s Paradise,” his breakout hit, spending three weeks at the top of the chart in 1995 and 38 weeks overall.
Before his untimely passing, Coolio worked on new songs, finalized a 10-show residency at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and got ready to bring his fan-favorite “Kwanzaa-Bot” back to Futurama for the upcoming Hulu reboot of the series.
The “Kwanzaa-Bot” episode will still air when Futurama returns later in 2023 because Coolio had already recorded his lines for the series.
Fans can now listen to the first single, “TAG (You It),” on all streaming services.
