Cop Involved In The Killing Of Breonna Taylor Gets New Book Deal

The officer involved in Breonna Taylor‘s killing has received a new book deal.

Conservative media company Daily Wire is launching its own publishing division called DW Books, WDRB news reports. As part of that venture, it has tapped former Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly for a partnership to publish his book “The Fight for Truth: The Inside Story Behind The Breonna Taylor Tragedy.”

Before DW Books signed on to publish the book, Simon & Schuster initially said it would publish it. However, hours later, the company walked back its decision to distribute it.

On Twitter, Simon and Schuster wrote: “Like much of the American public, earlier today Simon & Schuster learned of plans by distribution client Post Hill Press to publish a book by Jonathan Mattingly. We have subsequently decided not to be involved in the distribution of this book.”

Back in April, Kentucky state Rep. Attica Scott condemned the news of Mattingly’s book, saying, “People love to profit off of Black pain and tragedy. It sells.”

On the opposite side, DW Books says they are okay with moving forward with Mattingly’s book. “Simon & Schuster was too afraid to tell his (Mattingly’s) story, but we’re not,” DW Books Vice President of Publishing Alyssa Cordova told The Associated Press.
