Corey Adams, an 18-year-old defensive lineman for the Ole Miss football team, has tragically died following a shooting in Cordova, Tennessee, located in the greater Memphis area, according to reports from ESPN and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting claimed Adams’ life and injured four other men, who were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not considered critical. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident at this time.
Ole Miss released a heartfelt statement confirming the young athlete’s death, writing, “Our hearts are broken. We extend our deepest sympathy to Corey’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches, and we ask everyone in the Ole Miss community to keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time.”

Adams had only recently joined the Rebels’ roster in the winter after a standout high school career at Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, where he twice earned all-state honors. His dedication and excitement for the upcoming season were evident in the photos he posted from spring practices on Instagram.
The tragedy has rocked the college football world, cutting short the promising future of a young man who was just beginning his journey at the collegiate level.
