Today is the last day of 2014 so it’s only right we round up and count down some of the most Ballerific Ballers of 2014 (No Particular Order)
10 – Mo’Ne Davis – We love Mo’Ne Davis. The young little leaguer has had a tremendous year. She’s killed the cover of Sports Illustrated, graced the pages of Teen Vogue and most recently named Associated Press’ Female Athlete of the Year. We love her!
9 – John Wall – John Wall is not only humble, but he’s fine. That’s not the only reason we love him, though. Besides being an all around great player, he’s a great guy. A stand-out moment would be when he broke down in tears earlier this month when his biggest fan, 6-year old DaMiyah Nelson passed away from cancer. He’s such a genuine person.
8 – Odell Beckham Jr. – Baller Alert has been following Odell Beckham for quite some time now, whether we wanted to or not (you OG Baller Alert readers know why). I’m glad we kept an eye on him because the NY Giant is nothing short of a MONSTER on the field.
7 – Dwyane Wade – We’re not giving Dwyane this spot for his work on the court, or even for staying loyal to the Miami Heat. Dwyane gets this spot for finally marrying Gabrielle Union. Yes honey, he put a ring on it and he followed through. Gabrielle looked gorgeous and it was good for them to finally make it happen.
6 – Dez Bryant – Dez takes this spot for doing the seemingly impossible, turning around the Dallas Cowboys team. It’s been over a decade of losses for Dallas and finally…FINALLY… the team has some promise. Have to give it up to Dez for this one.
5 – Lou Williams – Baller Alert broke the story of Lou Williams and his sister wives situation. It works for him and seems to be as strong as ever. His girl has a girlfriend, who can hate on that?
4 – Derrick Rose – D. Rose was the first NBA player to rock an “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt in remembrance of Eric Garner, sparking a movement that has been going on for at least a month now. He took some flack for it, but he needs to know we support him.
3 – Kobe Bryant – Earlier this month Kobe Bryant surpassed Michael Jordan for the #3 spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. During a Lakers victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kobe shot a pair of freethrows to snag his 32,292 career points.
2 – Matt Kemp – Yeah, Matt Kemp moved to the Padres but that’s not why he made the list. He made the list because he’s fine. You know good and well that’s why. What list won’t Matt Kemp make? I bet if there was a Top 10 Finest Athletes you’d put Matt Kemp on it.
1 – Devon Still – Devon Still’s story is one that has been close to our heart all year. As he watches his young daughter, Leah, battle cancer, we can’t help but become emotionally invested in their family. From getting cut, to getting picked up again so that he can pay for medical treatment, Devon Still is well deserving of the #1 spot.
