With more than 9,000 confirmed cases of the deadly Coronavirus in China alone, the global response has countries around the world, urging their citizens to evaluate China. At the same time, airlines are reducing or canceling air travel to the country.
The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a global health emergency, and the State Department has suggested against all travel to China and advised all Americans in the country to leave.
The U.K is in the process of airlifting 83 Britons and 27 foreign nationals back to Britain today, after confirming the first two cases of coronavirus in the country.
According to NBC News, an estimate of more than 369 South Koreans arrived in Seoul on Thursday, and a second plane is scheduled to depart today. Korea has confirmed 11 cases of the virus in that country so far.
Two of the largest airlines in the U.S., American, and Delta, are suspending flights to China due to the outbreak. American said its suspension will last through March 27 and that the company will continue to evaluate the situation, implying that date could be pushed back beyond that.
Delta Airlines officials said its suspension will start February 6 and last through April 30, while United said it would cancel 24 flights from February 1 to February 8.
British Airways announced on Wednesday it would no longer fly to or from China, joining others like Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Air Canada, and Air Seoul. United has also followed suit.
