Couple Snowed In At A California Cabin Rescued After Nearly Two Months

Imagine being snowed inside a cabin for close to two months. Well, that’s what happened to a couple in California.

The two became “snowed in” while staying at a Northern California cabin. They were finally rescued by helicopter on Tuesday after a nearly two-month stay, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol’s Valley Division Air Operations was contacted by the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office, who asked the operations to help rescue the couple and their pet dog.

Apparently, the couple, who had been there since Dec. 6, had started running out of supplies.

The state agency reported that neglected trees and heavy snow kept them locked in.

Since the cabin was in a remote location and roads were blocked, CHP said it sent a helicopter to help rescue the couple and their pet.

The exact location of the cabin was not shared, but the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office said it was located in Downieville, California, which is on the North Fork of the Yuba River.

The CHP shared a video that shows the front of the cabin surrounded by trees and blocked by snow.

Luckily, the helicopter could land near the cabin, despite strong winds, NBC News reported.

The couple and their dog were flown to a landing zone and taken to a safe location.
