Day five of Tory Lanez‘s assault trial in the shooting of Megan thee Stallion began Thursday, where prosecutors played the recording from their September 2022 interview with Kelsey Harris.
Law & Crime senior reporter Meghann Cuniff, who has been reporting from the courthouse, revealed that in the recording, Harris detailed what happened the night of the shooting and that the fight ignited with Lanez telling Megan that she needed to tell Kelsey “the truth.” In the recorded statement, Harris claims things escalated to Tory and Megan trading insults. Harris also told prosecutors that Lanez threatened to shoot her. She also named Lanez as Megan’s shooter and also said she herself was physically assaulted by the “Say It” artist.
Lawyer for Workers also broke down Harris’ recorded testimony from September, where she implicated Tory as the shooter and acknowledged there was a conversation about money. However, Harris denied she was bribed.
LA Times reported James Queally reports that Thursday’s trial continued with witnesses taking the stand who were mostly firearms experts.
Prosecution is working its way through final few witnesses (firearms experts, mostly foundational stuff that a shooting did happen) and is expected to rest today. I'm outside writing a weekend story, but will go back in for the final afternoon session. Defense may start its case.
