Courtney B. Vance opens up about parenting teenage twins with his wife, Angela Bassett.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the 63-year-old actor discusses his experiences in parenting his 17-year-old children, daughter Bronwyn Golden Vance and son Slater Josiah Vance, alongside his wife, and according to Vance, the job isn’t easy.
“I always tell people that I go to work to rest, and I come home to work,” he said. “I am running around this house, doing this and that…That’s the way we are, we are busy, all of us. The four of us and our company manager and our executive assistant, we’re a machine that really everybody’s got to communicate, ‘Who’s got this person, who’s got that person?’ ”
After a seven-year journey of undergoing IVF treatments, Vance and Bassett welcomed their fraternal twins on January 27, 2006, with the help of a surrogate. In a 2021 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Bassett gave insights into their approach to disciplining their children, shedding light on their methods.
“He is usually pretty calm but he is consistent,” Bassett said. “For instance, right now he’s 2,500 miles or so away in Chicago, and he can still get them to hop to it.”
