You may recall Dallas Cowboys’ Joseph Randle was arrested for shoplifting Polo Ralph Lauren underwear and a tester bottle of Gucci Guilty cologne from Dillard’s. Well, on Friday he caught an earful from team mate Dez Bryant over comments he made in his arrest video, mainly when he said “Dez didn’t miss no games for slapping his mama.”
That’s not all Randle said in the video. Besides asking jail employees if his mugshot looks okay because he didn’t want to look like a criminal and offering a female jail employee $100 for a massage, he also brought up Josh Brent’s drunk driving incident saying, “Josh Brent, he’s still up in the locker room. He was driving drunk. That’s stupid.” This clown.
Not sure why Randle would bring up Josh or Dez, but obviously Dez wasn’t feeling it and after the video was released on Wednesday, Dez confronted him Friday. Luckily Cowboys TE Jason Witten was there to break it up, telling Randle to basically shut up and not say another word. Great advice from Witten.
When Dez was asked about the incident after practice the wide receiver replied, “It’s alright. It ain’t no big deal. We got to get on the Arizona Cardinals.” Witten added, “Things happen all the time. We’re trying to move on from last week’s game. All that’s handled and you move forward.”
As for Randle, the Cowboys decided not to suspend him after his arrest. He will, however, be docked one game’s check (around $29,500). That’s one expensive pack Ralph Lauren boxer-underwear.
Randle got one good thing out of his underwear-related arrest. He scored a sponsorship with a company called MeUndies which is giving him enough money to cover his fine and enough underwear to cover his ass. Excuse my opinion but this is stupid. All of the homeless and less fortunate people in the world and you give an able bodied, multi-million dollar pro athlete free money and underwear for shop lifting and getting arrested? This is clearly a publicity move for a company no one has ever heard of. Why not give Ray Rice a boxing glove sponsorship while we’re at it?
