According to Google–and this is not true–yesterday on Black Twitter, a user tweeted a photo of a Cracker Barrel truck with the caption that read, “Cracker was a slang term for whip. That’s why blacks called whites crackers, from the crack of the whip. A Cracker Barrel is a barrel that held the whips for sale at the country store. You see the whip going from the R to the K? Racism in your face!!”
It seems like most of us Black people didn’t even notice the whip from the R to the K, to begin with. Most Black folks I know wouldn’t even step foot in this restaurant/store chain, but you know Black Twitter had to react to the possibility of this tweet being true.
