The third installment of Creed is headed to theaters in 2022 with Michael B. Jordan as the film’s director.
Jordan is set to make his directorial debut with the film, which comes as no shock since Irwin Winkler, the producer of the original Rocky movies and Creed spinoffs, revealed that the actor would be taking the lead on the film.
Jordan is excited about his role as director, as it has always been a dream of his. Acting greats such as Denzel Washington and Ryan Coogler have mentored him, which has molded him for this moment.
“I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake,” the 34-year-old said.
Aside from Michael B. Jordan, actresses Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad will return for the next film, though it is unclear if Sylvester Stallone will join the crew to revive his Rocky Balboa role.
Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin will write the script based on Ryan Coogler’s outline.
While the directorial duties are switching hands, the movie is almost guaranteed to be a hit following the first two films’ success. The Creed series has brought in nearly $400 million globally.
Creed III will arrive in the United States on November 23rd, 2022.
