As Hollywood and fans worldwide mourn the death of famed actor Michael K. Williams, investigators are looking for the person responsible for providing him with the illegal drugs found at the site of the actor’s death.
The 54-year-old star, most famously known for his role as Omar in “The Wire,” was found dead on Monday inside of his Brooklyn home by his nephew, who went to check on him after he missed a weekend engagement. Though autopsy results are pending, authorities located drug paraphernalia at the scene, including what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table. Investigators strongly suspect that Williams died from an overdose. The NYPD is now on the hunt for the drug dealer that provided the deadly narcotics.
Aside from “The Wire,” Williams appeared on the series “Lovecraft Country” as Montrose Freeman, earning his fifth Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He also scored Emmy nods for his roles in “When They See Us,” “The Night Of,” and “Bessie.”
Tributes from his peers have poured in since the news of his death. Fabolous, Viola Davis, and Spike Lee are just a few stars who have extended their condolences to the immensely talented actor.
Williams has previously opened up about his battle with addiction, calling it an “everyday struggle.”
