In an exciting new collaboration, Crocs is stepping into the world of Netflix’s “Squid Game” with a special edition release that echoes the chilling aesthetics of the series.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic pine green jumpsuits worn by contestants, the Crocs remain largely unaltered but include bold, bloody accents on the strap and midsole, symbolic of the show’s high-stakes challenges. These comfort shoes also pay homage to fan-favorite characters, including players 067 and 001, with stick figure silhouettes referencing the survival game’s eerie instructions. Tying it all together are Jibbitz charms featuring the ominous faces of the game’s overseers, the unforgettable Dalgona candy, and the infamous Red Light, Green Light doll.
“Squid Game” debuted in 2021 and quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest phenomena, captivating audiences worldwide with its dark, dystopian narrative and deadly games. Shortly after its release, it became Netflix’s most-watched series ever, amassing 1.65 billion hours of viewing in its first 28 days. It reached the number one spot in 94 countries, having been watched by over 142 million households during its debut month. Thanks to the show, Vans classic white canvas sneakers spiked 7,800 percent, as it was the show seen worn in the series by the contestants.
Though release details remain under wraps, these “Squid Game” Crocs are expected to drop around the holidays, timed to the season two premiere on December 26th, with a likely $70 price tag.
