Over the weekend, Georgia lifted the shelter-in-place order. Although the order was lifted, the Governor still urged people to practice social distancing and the use of face coverings.
In some areas, large crowds took place. On Saturday, lines were formed outside of Jimmy Jazz at Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta for the release of new Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” Sneakers.
Shoppers were spotted close together as the lines wrapped around the building for the sneakers. According to 11 Alive News, shoppers were in line because the Jordans were sold out online.
Videos began surfing social media of the long lines outside of the mall to get in as well as the lines to get inside the store.
Governor Kemp stated in a press release before the order was lifted, that people should avoid massive crowds.
”Stay at least six feet from other people, do not gather in groups, stay out of crowded places, and avoid mass gatherings.”
As of Saturday, there had been 28,330 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia since the outbreak began and 1,175 deaths.
