As the coronavirus continues to sweep the globe, infecting more than 39,000 people in the United States, companies are stepping up to help those affected financially by the deadly outbreak.
According to NBC News, CVS Health is planning to hire 50,000 workers, offering positions to those who were furloughed from other companies because of the pandemic.
The drug store expects to put the plan in motion immediately, hiring temporary, part-time, and full-time positions. It also plans to work with its major clients, including Hilton and Marriott, to employ their furloughed workers.
According to the publication, the employees will also receive a slew of benefits, from an additional 24 hours of paid sick leave to 14 additional days of sick leave for employees who test positive for the virus. The chain is also gifting employees with bonuses of up to $500, as part of the plan.
CVS will be filing roles for store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center workers, and customer service reps.
