Rapper Da Baby has been arrested in Miami after an alleged fight with a promoter over $10,000.
The 28-year-old was booked into the Miami-Dade jail just before midnight Thursday and made his first court appearance Friday. According to Miami-Dade Corrections spokesman, Juan Diasgranados, the rapper will remain in custody until further notice.
The arrest occurred following a dispute over a gig at Cafe Iguana in Pembroke Pines. According to the police report, the promoter handed DaBaby $20k. However, DaBaby claimed that he was owed $30k instead for a concert he was scheduled to perform on Thursday. in addition, the promoter, who is said to have been punched by the rapper, told authorities that one of the men with Da Baby, whose real name is Johnathan Kirk, also took his cellphone, a bank card and $80 in cash.
After his arrest in Florida, authorities discovered a warrant for his arrest in Dallas, Texas, for “organized criminal activity.” The warrant was in connection to a fight with a food stand employee at Dallas Fort Worth Airport last month.
