Rapper Da Brat has confirmed that the elevator fight between Tamar Braxton and Jermaine Dupri’s step-mother over the music producer’s father actually happened.
Last week, singer-songwriter K.Michelle went on a rant with Tamar as her target, revealing that the fellow singer had an affair with Jermaine Dupri’s father, #Michael Mauldin. Now, Da Brat is coming in to corroborate Michelle’s words, saying she is a first-hand witness of the fight. According to HotNewHipHop, Brat has always been close with Jermaine, and she decided to open up about the drama involving Tamar while on air.
“Jermaine Dupri’s momma is Momma Tina. So it wasn’t his momma,” she said during her radio show. “That did happen. I happened to be in that elevator. The whole Beyoncé thing that definitely happened. That’s Michael Mauldin’s ex-wife. Lord Jesus, no comment. I was in the elevator, honey. It was just a situation. And Michael Mauldin’s ex-wife was a little fed up, and it went down in the elevator. When it opened, I exited the elevator stage left. I didn’t have nothing to do with it. This was a while ago.”
Meanwhile, Tamar responded to K. Michelle’s comments saying she is at a different place in her life and that she doesn’t “want to be a part of any type of negativity.” “I don’t really have a lot to say because I feel like whenever I talk, it gets misconstrued. I’m in a different place in my life,” said Tamar alongside her boyfriend #DavidAdefeso. “I don’t want to be a part of any type of negativity of any kind. …being professional, not having this stereotype of the angry Black woman and not having the stereotypes that come along with being on reality television which is always being negative, always being problematic, always being messy or whatever, it’s almost like the work that you do gets covered up by mess. The last thing that I am going to waste my time with is giving negative energy, energy.”
Adefeso also chimed in, saying he hated to see two Black women attacking one another. “What I saw this morning made me sad because I saw one strong black woman, [a] strong, good-looking black woman, tear another strong, good-looking black woman down, and it broke my heart,” he said calling the Michael Mauldin rumors untrue. “What makes me sad is Tamar now gotta defend herself against something which is false. Against something which was concocted. Against something which was meant to defame her character. As her man, it broke my heart.”
The drama all started when Tamar sarcastically shut down the possibility of having a #Verzuz battle against K.Michelle. In response, Michelle went ham on Tamar, calling her out for a number of things, including allegedly having an affair with Jermaine’s father. “You can’t f*ckin go around talking about nobody when you sleeping with a married man,” said K. You was sleeping with Jermaine Dupri Daddy. How you sleeping Jermaine Dupri Daddy and get your a** beat by Jermaine Dupri momma in an elevator?! But you want to talk about me? I don’t f*ck married men. But you so holy? Hmmm.”
Dang K. Michelle, all of that because Tamar didn’t want to battle you. I bet you been wanting to say that sh*t!
