Following his homophobic and misinformed statements at last month’s Rolling Loud Miami festival, Dababy has issued a formal apology to the LGBTQ+ community.
The rapper took to Instagram Monday to say, “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.” He continued, “Love to all. God Bless.”
Baby’s apology comes just off the heels of him being dropped from various music festivals following his Rolling Loud rant. As part of his apology, the rapper suggested that the swiftness of social media allows people to “demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educated, and learn from your mistakes.” He also thanked those who reached out to him privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources.
As previously reported, DaBaby told fans during his Rolling Loud set: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS or other STDs that’ll make you die in 2-3 weeks, put ya cellphones lights in the air” and “Fellas, if you didn’t suck a n***a d**k in the parking lot, put ya cellphone lights up”
DaBaby previously took to Twitter and Instagram to try to explain himself. However, it only made matters worse.
His actions resulted in him being pulled from the lineups of Lollapalooza, Park Life Festival UK, Governor’s Ball NYC, and Day N Vegas.
