DaBaby has responded to accusations from YouTuber Lah Mike, who claimed the rapper scammed him out of $20,000.
The controversy unfolded when Lah Mike posted a video to Instagram detailing his experience with DaBaby, alleging that he paid the rapper $20,000 for a feature that was never delivered.
“DaBaby ran off with 20K I paid him for a video… Please don’t scam me bro. This is my livelihood,” Mike wrote. “I don’t even have a full video.”
He continued, “I’ll fix whatever you need, bro. Please come finish the video… Please don’t f*ck me over.”
In his response, DaBaby took to social media to refute the claims, stating that there was a misunderstanding regarding the agreement and the terms were not met on Mike’s end.
“I ain’t run off n*gga I walked off. You know why too n*gga. Be glad that’s the way it went & tighten up,” the rapper said.
Additionally, Mike also posted a video from the shoot featuring DaBaby, where things heated up after someone jokingly referred to him as a “professional fart sucker.” In that same post, Mike revealed a personal backstory about the getting the funding for DaBaby’s feature. He explained that his grandmother, and in another part of the clip referred to her as his great-grandmother, is allegedly currently battling cancer, and had given him $10,000. This was half of the payment for DaBaby’s feature, as she wanted to see the video completed before she passes away.
DaBaby didn’t waste any time addressing the situation. In a video response, DaBaby accused Mike of “lying on his grandma.” The rapper expressed his frustration and disappointment, suggesting that Mike was using his grandmother’s condition as a way to manipulate the story.
“You a sick little dude,” DaBaby added. “People probably believe in this twenty-versus-one sh*t like this shit is for real, like you don’t be paying these girls to do this.”
He added, “You got people playing with my name, like I came and just robbed you. This what we gonna do: I’m gonna take the $20,000 that you gave me for my time…and I’m gonna give $1,000 apiece to them twenty girls that you paid to let a lame n*gga like you disrespect them, for that little YouTube check.”
Nevertheless, it’s unclear if DaBaby will actually follow through with his statement or if he will return to finish out the video with Mike.
