On Sunday, three days after a Dallas police officer shot and killed a neighbor in his home, claiming she mistook it for her own, 30-year-old #AmberGuyger was arrested and charged in the incident. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to the New York Times, Guyger was slapped with manslaughter charges in the death of 26-year-old Botham Shem Jean.
In the incident, according to police, Guyger came home from work in her uniform on Thursday night and attempted to use her key on Jean’s apartment. When she encountered the resident, Guyger opened fire, thinking Jean was an intruder.
Jean was then taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As for Guyger, the officer was placed on administrative leave, as officials prepared to charge her with manslaughter. But, after the case was turned over to the Texas Rangers, the state’s officials postponed the arrest warrant, sparking concern within the community.
But now, after further investigation, officials have announced Guyger’s arrest. According to reports, Guyger was held in the Kaufman County Jail, but recently made $300k bail for release.
