Dame Dash has made shocking new claims regarding the tragic death of Aaliyah, suggesting famed music video director Hype Williams played a role in the circumstances surrounding her fatal plane crash.

In a recent interview with “The Art of Dialogue,” Dash alleged that the singer was initially supposed to shoot the “Rock the Boat” video in Miami, but Williams changed it to the Bahamas, allegedly to be able to bill the label more money. After the shoot was completed, the music mogul claimed Aaliyah was scheduled to board Lenny Kravitz’s jet. However, Dash says that Williams took the jet for himself, leaving the 22-year-old and her team to board a smaller, overloaded aircraft that ultimately crashed shortly after takeoff, claiming the lives of all nine people on board.
“What I was told was, she was supposed to be on Lenny Kravitz’s jet, but he offered it to her. You could ask Lenny Kravitz, I guess. And Hype took it and had her on that plane,” Dash reiterated.
Dash also expressed frustration with Williams’ “pattern” of milking artists and budgets.
“When we did ‘Big Pimpin,’ we’re in hotels, and he’s in a house with a chef. He’s throwing dinners on our dime. And I’m like, ‘Why are we in a hotel and this n***a got his own house with a chef? And we’re paying for it?’ And that’s why I cut ‘Big Pimpin,'” he explained. “I knew that he was going to try that same play with her, and he did. And then, you know, if utilized for him as far as making, you know, himself more comfortable than the artist on the artist’s dime, I knew he was going to do that.”
Williams has not responded publicly to Dash’s claims.
