The former Roc-A-Fella executive, who has been vocal about his falling out with Jay-Z, recently criticized Hov for the way he treated Sigel during Roc-A-Fella’s tumultuous split.
“That one hurt,” Dash admitted, reflecting on how much he invested in Sigel’s career. “I did a lot. I chose State Property over Roc Wear.”
Dash accused Jay-Z of “tricking” Sigel, claiming, “It’s almost like [Jay] tricked Beans to shelf him. He f**ked his life up, to me, doing that.”
The entrepreneur envisioned Sigel as his “New Jay,” a successor to carry Roc-A-Fella’s legacy, but felt that Jay-Z sabotaged those plans.
“The s**t I had planned for him, he f**ked his own self up for that one,” Dash explained.
He revealed grand ambitions for Sigel, including movies and a clothing line, and intended to elevate the Philadelphia native and Cam’ron to vice presidents of Roc-A-Fella, leveraging their labels for broader success.
Dash likened Sigel and State Property to N.W.A., believing they had the potential to dominate pop culture. Despite their falling out, Sigel later expressed his own frustrations with Jay-Z, releasing the 2009 diss track “Go Off.” However, the two reconciled in 2015 during a concert appearance together.
Reflecting on the missed opportunities, Dash lamented, “He could’ve been a superstar if he stuck with me.”
