Dame Dash is never one to hold back when it comes to telling his truth, and recently he took to Instagram to clear the air about an old altercation with music executive Steve Stoute. According to Dash, the confrontation stemmed from a moment when Stoute got out of line in front of his son.
In the video, Dash recalls how Stoute tried to test him in a business meeting where Jay-Z, his brother, and his cousin were also present. “He thought because Jay-Z was in the room that he could get cute with me,” Dash explained. Things escalated quickly when Stoute began to challenge Dash in a way he felt was disrespectful. “I told him, ‘Bro, don’t talk to me like that in front of my son,’” Dash continued. When Stoute didn’t back down, Dash said he had to take action. “He talked cute again, and I just gave him a nice left hook smack. I didn’t want to hurt him, I just thought he was being threatening around my child.”
Dash explained that this incident is why certain people hold a grudge against him, leading to what he feels is a concerted effort to hinder his progress in the industry. “Now y’all should understand why certain people hate me,” Dash stated. “They can’t get over getting smacked, and they conspire to actually stop me from moving forward. They’re all weirdos.”
Dash made it clear that he has no interest in being part of any so-called “weirdo club.” He emphasized that he would rather work hard on his own terms and enjoy a peaceful life with his family than be entangled in fake industry politics. “I’d rather not have a deal and have to hang out with weirdos. I’d rather just work, grind it out, be independent, sleep good at night, and play with my children.”
Dash also pointed out the odd behavior of people who continue to speak about him negatively in the media. “When someone is always talking about you on TV and always protecting another man, it’s obvious that y’all at those little parties, talking about ‘Yo, you gotta say something,’” he said. “But you’re just making it too obvious.”
Reflecting on the incident with Stoute, Dash reiterated that he had no choice but to respond the way he did because of the disrespect shown in front of his child. “Where I’m from, you can’t be disrespecting people. And you never disrespect a man in front of his child. Period.”
Dash’s message was clear: he’s not about to let anyone play with his name or his family.
