Dame Dash recently took to Instagram to share some personal reflections, touching on his relationship with Aaliyah and his thoughts on the current allegations surrounding Diddy. In the video, the music mogul set the record straight about a widely circulated photo and provided insight into why he chose to distance himself from certain environments in the entertainment industry.
Dash started by clarifying a memorable day from 20 years ago when he first spent time with Aaliyah in the Hamptons, not in L.A. or Miami, as some might think. “That was the day I met Aaliyah, we hung out there, and then we left. That was 20 years ago,” he said, addressing the context of a now-viral photo. He acknowledged that while people might try to spin the narrative around the image, he wasn’t concerned about it. “I know they’re going to play games with them pictures. It’s all good. I don’t really care.”
When asked about his thoughts on Diddy, Dash expressed his sadness over the current allegations and controversies surrounding the Bad Boy Records founder. “It’s sad, period. It’s just sad. And it’s crazy. And it’s shocking,” he shared, hinting at the disturbing nature of the claims.
Dash made it clear that while he doesn’t judge anyone for their personal choices, he has always been cautious about the environments he surrounds himself with. Reflecting on his past decisions, he said, “I never judge a man for any preference and all that. And they keep it to themselves. I ain’t got nothing to do with none of that.” He emphasized that his choice to step away from certain situations wasn’t a direct response to Diddy but rather a precautionary measure based on his instincts.
“I don’t know anything about any of those things from 2005 on. I wasn’t around, you know, and that was the reason why I wasn’t around,” Dash explained, noting that he has kept his distance from certain circles for nearly two decades. “What’s good is I don’t know anything. I just know I wasn’t there. And whatever happened is very mysterious to me like it was a mystery to everybody else.”
Despite his past connections and experiences in the music industry, Dash trusts his instincts and feels validated in his decision to remove himself from potentially harmful situations. “My instincts told me to get the **** out of certain environments,” he said. “I’m not going to say necessarily that one, but, you know, things that were along those lines.”
