At 24 years old and after an impressive rookie season, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is heading into his sophomore year in 2025 with high expectations he’s hoping to achieve. Following an NFC Championship appearance in his first season, Daniels has one game on his mind: Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.
With the additions of receiver Deebo Samuel, the re-signing of tight end Zach Ertz, and upgrades on defense, including experienced linebacker Bobby Wagner, Washington is looking to challenge the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East crown.
The NFL recently released its quarterback rankings list, as voted on by executives, coaches, and scouts. Daniels landed at fifth on the list, right behind Lamar Jackson and four spots ahead of Super Bowl 59 MVP Jalen Hurts, who sits at ninth.
On ESPN’s “Get Up,” analysts asked former pro Damien Woody if he had a problem with where Daniels was ranked. Woody definitively reiterated that he believes Jayden is ranked exactly where he should be.
“You damn right I do,” Woody responded when asked if he approved of where Daniels sat in the rankings. “This young man comes and steps foot in the building and that team was one win away from the Super Bowl. That is not a fluke, my friend, that is not a fluke. This man is uber talented. Not only is he a great athlete—he’s calm, he’s collected, he processes well, he’s accurate, he plays with timing and rhythm… and as this franchise continues to build this thing out, next year we could be talking about a guy in the top three.”
Daniels finished his rookie year with 3,568 passing yards, 891 rushing yards, 31 total touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 100.1.
That was just his first year in the league. The sky is the limit for this team as they begin preparing to prove last season was no fluke. Take a look at Damien Woody on ESPN’s “Get Up” this morning.
