The godfather of hip-hop fashion has teamed up with Sony and Jerrod Carmichael to transform his forthcoming memoir into a biopic for the big screen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Developed by Sony, and adapted by creator and star of “The Carmichael Show,” the film is set to take place in Harlem in the ‘80s, where the legendary tailor, Daniel “Dapper Dan” Day ran his iconic boutique on 125th St.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is being described as a “high-stakes coming-of-age story,” executive produced by Dapper Dan, himself, and his son and brand manager, Jelani Day.

During his time in Harlem, the streetwear pioneer dressed some of the biggest stars, from Jay-Z, Diddy, Aaliyah, Floyd Mayweather and more, using his creativity to remix high-end logos and more. However, after lawsuits led to the closure of his store, Dan has since resurfaced with a partnership deal with Gucci to relaunch his Harlem atelier.
