A French man who gained popularity for his extreme stunts has died after falling from a high-rise building’s 68th floor in Hong Kong.
Remi Lucidi, 30, was climbing the Tregunter Tower complex when he fell, the South China Morning Post reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the New York Post reported.
According to Hong Kong officials, Lucidi told the building’s security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor around 6 p.m. The guard attempted to stop Lucidi after they learned the alleged friend he mentioned had no acquaintance with him. But Lucidi had already made his way up the elevator.
Security footage from the building captured Lucidi getting off on the 49th floor and then taking the stairs up to the top of the building.
A hatch leading to the roof was found open, but he was nowhere in sight.
A maid working in the building’s penthouse said he had tapped on the window around 7:38 p.m. Authorities think he may have been asking for help.
Police have yet to issue an official cause of death.
According to Gurjit Kaur, owner of the hostel where Lucidi was reportedly staying, the guest was a “friendly and humble guy.”
“He was healthy and fit and happy-faced,” Kaur told the news outlet. “I feel very sad.”
