Yesterday it was reported that “Family Matters” star Darius McCrary was on the outs with his wife, Tammy Brawner, after she filed documents claiming the actor had been abusing her and their 16-month-old daughter, Zoey.
But now, McCrary is striking back, claiming the former Harlem Globetrotter is out to make a quick buck off the media attention. According to the actor’s lawyer, Glen T. Jonas, McCrary said his wife lied when she cited several instances of abuse in the recently filed legal documents.
“She is a predator motivated by a desperate desire to extort money out of Mr. McCrary while trying to create an advantage in an impending divorce and custody battle,” Jonas told the publication of his client’s estranged wife.
McCrary maintained his innocence, in regards to the allegations, while his lawyer described him as “a loving devoted and dedicated father.” However, as for Brawner’s claims, Jonas said the “allegations are such obvious and outlandish lies… we are all dumber for having read them.”
“Having floundered after being fired by the Globetrotters,” Jonas added, “she apparently will say anything for a bit of media attention and a glimpse of the spotlight.”
In the meantime, McCrary has been ordered move out of their home and remain at least 100 yards away from Brawner and their daughter, until they meet again in court next month.
