Last month, New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was charged with four felonies and a misdemeanor, stemming from an incident that occurred a few days prior in Pittsburgh.
According to officials, Revis got into an altercation with two men over a cell phone recording, ultimately resulting in both men being laid out.. Although the cops were able to identify the Baller from footage captured, his recollection of the incident was a little different. Revis’ lawyer said his client was the victim in the situation.
One month later, Revis has been cleared of all charges pertaining to that incident. Revis’ friend, Rashawn Bolton, stood before the judge to explain what really happened on the night of the alleged assault. Bolton testified that he was the man responsible for knocking the two men out, only after he witnessed their initial attack on Revis. He also told the judge that it was his voice on the video obtained and released by TMZ.
“Darrelle Revis is a peaceful, quiet, private individual and a law-abiding citizen,” Revis’ attorney told reporters. “A neutral, detached, disinterested judge determined that there isn’t even probable cause for this case to warrant further trial consideration.”
His lawyer continued, “There is no reason these charges should have been brought.”
With the legal issues behind him, Revis is ready to get back to business. However, tThe situation is still under investigation as part of the league’s personal conduct policy, since his name was wrapped up in a physical altercation in the first place.
“The hunger is definitely there,” Revis told NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala. “It’s just passion and love for the game. I’m excited for this season to start. …I can focus on what team I can fit with and the best system.”
You may recall, Revis was released by the Jets about two weeks ago. The team’s coach, Todd Bowles, says his release had nothing to do with his lingering legal issues.
