Ex-NFL star, Darren Sharper, has finally learned his fate after being accused of drugging and raping as many as 16 women across New Orleans, California, Nevada and Arizona.
According to a 15-page statement, Darren Sharper and his friend Brandon Licciardi, a former sheriff’s deputy in St. Bernard Parish, put sedatives into women’s drinks so they could rape them. Sharper pleaded guilty in federal court to three counts of distributing drugs with rape as the aim. Originally prosecutors suggested a 9 year prison term. Unfortunately for Sharper, Judge Jane Triche Milazzo felt that was too lenient and rejected the plea deal in June. Darren Sharper was sentenced on Thursday to 18 years in prison.
Licciardi and Erik Nunez, a second co-defendant, face sentencing on October 13. As per their plea agreements, Licciardi has accepted a 17-year sentence and Nunez has accepted a sentence of 10 years.
In his plea deal Sharper previously pleaded guilty to sexual assault in Arizona. He pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to drugging and raping two women he met at a bar.
Darren Sharper spent 14 years in the NFL. After his retirement he worked as an NFL analyst.
