Dave Chappelle’s attacker is currently facing extra-legal issues.
23-year-old Isaiah Lee is being charged with attempted murder for December 2021 incident where he allegedly stabbed his roommate during an altercation at a transitional housing apartment.
Earlier this month, Lee was arrested for tackling Chappell at the Hollywood Bowl.
On Thursday, he entered a not guilty plea to the criminal charge. His next court appearance for the attempted murder charge is on June 2.
“The publicity generated by the attack on Mr. Chappelle helped police solve this crime,” said LA County District Attorney George Gascón. “The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl was misdemeanor conduct and rightfully referred to the City Attorney’s Office. Based on the nature and severity of the December attack, Mr. Lee is now facing felony charges which my office will prosecute.”
