Dave Chappelle promises that his hosting gig at ‘Saturday Night Live’ will be “so black, it’ll be on BET.”
On Thursday, SNL premiered Chappelle’s promo video for his upcoming hosting gig that’s set to air this Saturday. The video begins with Chappelle revealing his plans for Thanksgiving.
“I’m just gonna be on the farm with the wife and the kids and not watch football, you know, have a little pie, that kind of stuff,” he says.
In the second take of the promo clip, Chappelle deemed this week’s episode as being “so Black it’s gonna be on BET.” However, Chappelle quickly changed his statement saying, “just kidding, it’s gonna be right here on NBC.”
During the third take, cast member Ego Nwodim questions if it’s a good idea to have the controversial comedian perform live.
“In this news cycle?” Nwodim asks. “Yup,” Chappelle assures her.
The stand-up comedian will also be joining Chris Rock along a string of December show dates. The performances will kick off with a two-night stand-up at Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl in San Diego. The comedians will travel through Phoenix, Anaheim, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Thousand Palms, California and end the shows in Seattle, Washington.
