“Full House” star Dave Coulier, widely known as his TV persona “Uncle Joey,” celebrated two years of sobriety.
On Thursday, the actor took to Instagram to reflect on how far he’s come after a struggle with alcoholism led him down a dark hole. Sharing an initially alarming photo, Coulier explained that his bruised and bloody face resulted from an extremely intoxicated night in January 2020. He explained that liquor made him feel like the “life of the party” but caused him to take a tumble that evening.
“I was hammered and fell, going up some stairs made of stone,” he wrote. Coulier decided after the painful accident and a nasty hangover that left him feeling like “a bowl of dog mess,” it was time to kick his alcohol addiction for good.
Despite withdrawals, Coulier got through the transitional period with the help of his wife, Melissa. Today, the 62-year-old has a renewed lease on life.
“The sky is more blue, my heart is no longer closed, and I enjoy making people laugh until they fall down more than ever before,” he wrote.
