Rapper and actor David Banner thinks parents should avoid spoiling their children and instead focus on instilling a strong work ethic.

During a recent conversation on “The Big Facts Podcast,” Banner shared his thoughts on parenting and how to ensure children grow up with solid values. According to him, it’s not beneficial for parents to give their children an upper hand in life, as they will have nothing to work toward.

“The problem is that we take the pain from our children. The pain is what made all of us who we are, every one of us. You don’t take the pain away from the children; you take danger from them, and there’s a difference,” he explained.

While Banner does not have youngsters of his own, he has expressed a desire to become a father at this stage of his life. However, he has made it clear he doesn’t plan to hand his future kids everything on a silver platter.  The “Get Like Me” performer believes experiencing some level of struggle is essential for children to appreciate what they have.

“So what you do is you don’t take the pain. They’ve gotta go through the s**t. And if they’re too lazy to go through the pain, then f**k they lil a**. Yeah, they deserve to suffer,” he said.
