As the federal sex trafficking trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs moves forward, testimony from his former assistant David James offered insight into the music mogul’s personal and professional lifestyle.
According to James, Diddy didn’t travel light. His overnight bags routinely included at least $10,000 in cash, along with a wide array of medications and personal items. The items ranged from everyday painkillers like Advil and Tylenol to prescription medications such as Viagra and supplements said to boost sperm count. The assistant also recalled seeing water pills and recreational drugs like ecstasy and Percocet in the bag.
He added that Diddy often instructed him to buy personal care items—including baby oil, condoms, and lubricants—using cash. These purchases were reimbursed directly by Diddy, separate from company records.
The assistant also testified about a moment in 2008 during a work trip to Miami. He said he was sent to deliver an iPad to Diddy’s hotel room. When no one answered, he used his key to enter and found Cassie Ventura, who was dating Diddy at the time, lying in bed under the covers. A man with long hair was also present in the room while Diddy was in the shower. The assistant said he didn’t ask questions and assumed it was a personal matter.
He also recounted an incident where Diddy searched his computer and found a blog post mentioning an alleged altercation with Cassie. The assistant said the reaction was unusual and noted that Combs had never gone through his browser history before.
This testimony is part of a larger federal case in which Diddy is facing serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all allegations.
